Information for users of the Microsoft Vista operating systems

Vista does not install the help file necessary to view PlotLog help. Please download the updated help program WinHlp32.exe.

  1. Click the Continue button to validate your copy of Vista.
  2. Click Download Files Below.
  3. Download the appropriate update to Vista:
  • If you are using a 32 bit version of Vista, click to download the version called Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu.
  • If you are using a 64 bit version of Vista, click to download the version called Windows6.0-KB917607-x64.msu.
  1. Use Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) to locate any help file on your hard drive. Right click it and select Open With and select Choose Default Program. Windows Explorer can be found in Start/All Programs/Accessories.
  2. Make sure Always Use the Selected Program to Open This Kind of File is checked.
  3. Click the Browse button and browse to C:\WINDOWS.
  4. Double-click the file winhlp32.exe.

Help files with a file extension of .hlp will now open as expected.
